Marie has been a member of NABMSE for many years and has been Chairperson for 7 years. She is the Patron’s Nominee and Chairperson of St. Patrick’s School, Kilkenny. Marie is current director of the RSC Education Office and is also Chairperson of the Board of Management of a secondary and primary school. She has been class teacher in a Mainstream school and a teacher and principal of schools for children with mild and moderate learning disabilities. Marie is a member of the Council of Catholic Schools Partnership and is also on the Board of the Association of Trustees of Catholic Schools.

Ned is Chief Executive of St. Vincent’s Psychiatric Hospital, Fairview Dublin 3 and has been Chairperson of the Board of Management of St Joseph’s Adolescent School, which is attached to the hospital, since 2003. He is a member of the NABMSE Central Executive since 2006 and is the current Treasurer. He is also Honorary Secretary of the Health Management Institute, the professional body for Healthcare managers in Ireland. He worked in the health service in London and in Sierra Leone before returning to work in the health service in Ireland in 1979.

Patricia is the Community representative on the Board of Management of Scoil Mochua in Clondalkin , Dublin 22 and was Principal of the Central Remedial Clinic School for 19 years. She was previously a learning support and resource teacher in a Mainstream school. Patricia represents NABMSE on the NCCA Council and is a member of the ERST Trust and of Beaumont Hospital Ethics (Medical Research) Committee. Patricia is a member of the CEC of NABMSE for a number of years and is currently the Secretary.

Maighread is the current Vice–Chairperson of NABMSE and is the Patron’s representative on a number of Boards of Management of Special and Mainstream schools. She is trained as a Primary and Post Primary teacher and taught in Mainstream Primary and Post Primary for many years. Maighread was Principal of Benincasa School for children with severe emotional/behavioural difficulties for over 20 years. As a member the National Council of Special Education since 2006, she was re-nominated for a further term until 2012.

Phil is the Director of St. John of God Carmona Services and was previously Director of St. Augustine’s School for 7 years and a Patron’s representative on the Board of Management during that time. She is currently the Patron’s representative of the Board of Management of Carmona Special School and has been a member of the NABMSE Central Executive since 2002 and a previous Treasurer.
Phil is also a member of the Education Sub Group of the Federation of Voluntary Bodies since 2003.

Éilis is a member of the NABMSE Central Executive since 2005 and is Principal of St. Cecilia’s School, Sligo since 2004. She was previously a Teaching Principal in a Mainstream school for 11 years and was also a class teacher in a variety of classes. Veronica is the Teacher’s Representative on the Board of Management of St. Michael’s School, Rathgar and a member of the NABMSE Central Executive since 2007. As teacher in special education for over 20 years, Veronica has taught children aged 4 to 18 with mild general learning disabilities, moderate general learning disabilities, severe/profound learning disabilities and autism. She has also taught in mainstream education in Europe and the USA. She was also involved in setting up the first SNA course with the School of Practical Childcare.

Mary has been a member of the NABMSE Central Executive since 2007 and is the Teacher’s representative on the Board of Management of St. Mark’s Special School. She has been teaching for over 12 years in a Special School for children with mild general learning disabilities and previously she has taught in Mainstream in England.

Patricia was co-opted to the Central Executive of NABMSE in January 2010 and is the Principal of the School of the Divine Child in Ballintemple, Cork since 2001. She was previously a teacher in this school. From 1996 to 2001, Patricia was seconded to Cork Institute of Technology as Arts Officer. Patricia is a founder member of Cork Lifelong Learning Festival and a member of Cork City Learning Forum. She is also an Associate of the Special Education Support Service.

Majella has 30 years experience in special education, teaching children with mild, moderate and severe/profound learning difficulties including pre-school children. She has been Principal of Kolbe Special School, Portlaoise since 2006 and a member of the NABMSE Central Executive since 2007. Majella is also a member of the Board of Laois Teacher’s Education Centre.

Kathryn was co-opted to the Central Executive in January 2010. She trained as a primary and post primary teacher. She is Principal of St. Gabriel’s School in Dooradoyle, Limerick, a school for pupils with physical and multiple disabilities for over 14 years. Kathryn was previously a teacher in the school. She has also worked in mainstream education and as a social worker in the past.

Christina has been a member of the Central Executive since 2007 and is a patron’s representative on the Board of Management of Rosedale Special School for children with general disabilities in the severe and profound range in Galway City where she is also a Nurse Manager. She has been on the school Board of Management since 1998 where she was a parent representative initially and subsequently became a community representative.
Christina has worked in the health sector in the disability educational area for almost 20 years. She has worked with children of all ages from toddlers and preschool to children aged 6 to 18 years.
