Sr. Marie Carroll, Chairperson
Marie has been a member of NABMSE Central Executive for many years and has been Chairperson for 8 years. She is the Patron’s Nominee and Chairperson of St. Patrick’s School, Kilkenny. She is current director of the RSC Education Office and is also Chairperson of the Board of Management of a secondary and primary school. She has been class teacher in a Mainstream school and a teacher and principal of schools for children with mild and moderate learning disabilities. Marie is a member of the Council of Catholic Schools Partnership and is also on the Board of the Association of Trustees of Catholic Schools.

Phil Gray, Vice Chairperson 
Phil is the Director of St. John of God Carmona Services and was previously Director of St. Augustine’s School and a Patron’s representative on the Board of Management during that time. She is currently the Patron’s representative of the Board of Management of Carmona Special School and has been a member of NABMSE Central Executive since 2002 and is a previous Treasurer. Phil is also a member of the Education Sub Group of the Federation of Voluntary Bodies since 2003.

Éilis Dillon,  Honorary Secretary
Éilis is a member of NABMSE Central Executive since 2005 and is Principal of St. Cecilia’s School, Sligo since 2004. She was previously a Teaching Principal in a Mainstream school for 11 years and was also a class teacher in a variety of classes. Éilis is a an Associate Member of Special Education Support Service – Challenging Behaviour team.

Edward (Ned) Byrne, Honorary Treasurer
Ned is Chief Executive of St. Vincent’s Psychiatric Hospital, Fairview Dublin 3 and has been Chairperson of the Board of Management of St Joseph’s Adolescent School, which is attached to the hospital, since 2003. He is a member of NABMSE Central Executive since 2006 and is the current Treasurer. He represents NABMSE on the Consultative Forum of NCSE and IBEC Greater Dublin Regional Executive. Ned is the former Honorary Secretary of the HMI, the professional body for Healthcare managers in Ireland. He worked in the health service in London and in Sierra Leone before returning to work in the health service in Ireland in 1979.

Patricia Mc Crossan

Patricia is the Community representative on the Board of Management of Scoil Mochua in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and was Principal of the Central Remedial Clinic School for 19 years. She was previously a learning support and resource teacher in a Mainstream school. Patricia represents NABMSE on the NCCA Council and is a member of the ERST Trust and of Beaumont Hospital Ethics (Medical Research) Committee. Patricia is a member of of NABMSE Central Executive for a number of years.

Christina Pasley
Christina has been a member of NABMSE Central Executive since 2007 and is a patron’s representative on the Board of Management of Rosedale Special School in Galway City, a school for children with general disabilities in the severe and profound range where she is also a Nurse Manager. She has been on the school Board of Management since 1998. Christina has worked in the health sector in the disability educational area for almost 20 years. She has worked with children of all ages from toddlers and preschool to children aged 6 to 18 years.

Kathryn O Connor
Kathryn was co-opted to NABMSE Central Executive in January 2010. She is a trained a primary and post primary teacher. She is Principal of St. Gabriel’s School in Dooradoyle, Limerick, for over 14 years, a school for pupils with physical and multiple disabilities.. Kathryn was previously a teacher in the school. She has also worked in mainstream education and as a social worker in the past.

Patricia Harrington
Patricia was co-opted to NABMSE Central Executive in January 2010 and is the Principal of the School of the Divine Child in Ballintemple, Cork since 2001. She was previously a teacher in this school. From 1996 to 2001, Patricia was seconded to Cork Institute of Technology as Arts Officer. She is a founder member of Cork Lifelong Learning Festival and a member of Cork City Learning Forum. She is also an Associate of the Special Education Support Service.

Breda Corr, General Secretary
Breda was appointed as General Secretary in July 2009. A qualified teacher, Breda has wide experience working with Government Bodies in the area of project development. As a Special Projects Officer with a local authority, she was involved in some major initiatives such as the Midlands Broadband Project, the Rural Transport Initiative, Combat Poverty Initiatives and Second Level Schools Project.  More recently, she has worked for POBAL in the role of Liaison Officer for the RAPID Programme. This included working with Government Departments on RAPID/Social Inclusion issues, advising and supporting local area committees. Training local co-ordinators  and monitoring the implementation of the RAPID Programme in the region.

Breda has also worked with the Dormant Accounts Fund supporting project development in the Education, Disability Social And Economics sectors.
