Important Update on Staffing of Special Schools

 

The DES has confirmed that special schools will, for the coming school year, continue to be staffed under the terms of Circular 38/2010. While, as a general rule, teaching staff levels will remain in place, any additional teaching posts required in special schools will have to be found from within the sector. The DES will consider, early in the new school year, issues from the working group established under the terms of Circular 38/10 about the future staffing levels of special schools. The working group comprised representatives of the DES, NABMSE, NCSE, NPC, INTO, CPSMA and NEPS.
