Following a briefing meeting with the DES and Management bodies, the DES issued Circular 070/2010 and a FAQ document for the attention of Boards of Management on 26th November 2010. This relates to all staff paid directly by a recognised school that have not been affected by the 5% pay deduction in 2010. The pay deduction for the categories of staff in the Circular will be applicable from 1st January 2011.
This Circular has been issued following legal advice to the DES. In view of the uncertainty in 2010, the Minister for Finance gave an exemption for the staff in question up to December 2010.
